The National Center for Research and Development has concluded the competition 6 / 1.1.1 / 2020, Measure 1.1 "R&D projects of enterprises", Sub-measure 1.1.1 "Industrial research and development works carried out by enterprises." Among the projects selected for co-financing, there were as many as two projects, with a total value of over PLN 14 million, in which the consortium partner is the Institute of Biotechnology and Molecular Medicine.
The first of the co-financed projects "PeptAlm - a platform based on artificial intelligence to study peptide-protein interactions from virtually generated peptide libraries" was implemented as part of a consortium with Qsar Lab Sp. z o.o. - the project leader, in partnership with the Institute of Biotechnology and Molecular Medicine and Nanoexpo Sp. z o.o. The project will focus on increasing the competitiveness of the consortium members through the development and implementation of the bioinformatics platform "PeptAIm" for the creation of molecular diagnostic tests, allowing the selection of ligands (peptides) with a high affinity for target proteins. The result of the project will be a product innovation characterized by new features on the Polish and foreign markets. The recipients of the "PeptAlm" platform will be primarily laboratories, research and development units developing and/or producing diagnostic tests, public and private research centers, research institutions, as well as the pharmaceutical sector, conducting research on protein-protein and/or protein interactions peptide. The total value of the project is PLN 5,697,197.41, and the co-financing received is PLN 4,310,901.46.
The second project entitled “PostureScan - a machine learning-based system for the analysis and interpretation of posture defects in children and adolescents” concerns the development of technology and methodology for the non-invasive analysis of posture defects in children and adolescents. The created system, based on machine learning methods, will indicate the symptoms of foot defects, posture, and spine deformities, thus enabling the prevention and minimization of the persistence of posture defects and the deterioration of deformation. “PostureScan” will enable nurses, physiotherapists, and doctors to efficiently and effectively assess children's posture, find posture defects and deformities at an early stage. The system will minimize possible mistakes during the visual assessment, thanks to which we will obtain a new quality in preventing the consequences of posture defects in adulthood or the accumulation of deformities. Thanks to the developed system, screening tests in kindergartens, primary and secondary schools will be faster and more precise, which in turn will reduce the cost of the test, enable more precise analysis, and tailoring rehabilitation to the individual needs of the patient. The project, carried out in consortium with Lab Control Sp. z o.o. - the project leader, in partnership with the Institute of Biotechnology and Molecular Medicine and Gormanet Sp. z o.o., received funding in the amount of PLN 7,217,653.06, and its total budget is PLN 8,482,620.72.
